We went to see Harriet last night and Jason and Lesley were teaching me how to change the trachy ties around her neck. These need to be changed daily and under the trachy itself has to be cleaned gently and thoroughly to avoid infection. I realised that I must keep my nails alot shorter to enable me to do this correctly. They made it look so easy but obviously through the practice they have had they are able to do this very quickly. I did find it myself a little complicated but I am sure with further instructions will be able to master it. Harriet's secretions were rather high and she has been put on further medication to try and combat this...she was sleeping soundly when we left surrounded by her little cuddly toys
